The New York Post y the New York Times ya publicaron sus reseñas sobre la nueva producción de Les Contes d'Hoffmann del Met a cargo de Bartlett Sher. Del New York Times:
[. . .] Whatever scholars of “Hoffmann” believe about the validity of the choices made here, the opera as presented had integrity and dramatic flow. If the production is not a revelation, the Met’s new “Hoffmann” is a musically gratifying and vividly theatrical staging of a haunting and, in its way, profound work.
El New York Post tiene una reseña más negativa:
As the Met chorus raised their voices at the climax of “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” Thursday night, the tavern setting opened up, revealing ... a gray wall. It was a sadly appropriate visual symbol for a glamour-deprived dud of a new production [. . .]
Mientras tanto, el mundo tendrá que esperar 15 días para poder dar su propio juicio cuando la ópera sea transmitida mundialmente en vivo a través del programa The Met Live in HD.
